I’m just a weird dude that loves food.
I write about the moments that make me who I am or who I want to be.
Atlas Pizza - NE Portland, Oregon
On the night of my sewing class at PCC, I headed on over to Atlas Pizza for a slice and perhaps a bit of solace from the heat. I’m not a big fan of the 105 degree weather in Portland, I don’t know about you.
The restaurant’s air conditioning—unfortunately—wasn’t up to the task of the hot day. But thankfully the pizza more than made up for it.
Syun Izakaya - Hillsboro, Oregon
One of my favorite sushi places to visit when I have the time and the cash. Nestled near downtown Hillsboro, not far from the county courthouse, it is a favorite among government workers and sushi aficionados alike.
Not a lover of sushi? Don’t worry, they offer other wonderful items as well. But. You know. What’s wrong with you? Sushi. So good.
DarSalam Restaurant and Catering - Portland, Oregon
Father’s Day arrived and I was sad. My dad and I haven’t talked in a few years. And so, I grabbed both my kids and we went on an adventure downtown and ended up at DarSalam.
Michi Japan Restaurant - Tigard, Oregon
Sometimes you just want sushi and ramen, and you don’t want to drive into downtown Portland to have it. And that’s okay! Not every meal requires fanfare and celebration and the trappings of food bloggers and food enthusiasts everywhere. Those people are fucking nuts.
Anyway, we went to Michi Japan for a spell and it was good enough to scratch the itch.
Raul’s Family Mexican Restaurant - Portland, Oregon
Some days take a hard right turn when you’re not expecting it. One moment, you’re on your way to get your haircut, and the next you’re standing on the side of the road exchanging insurance information with kind but slightly frantic woman after she hit your car.
I stopped in at Raul’s restaurant shortly after the car accident, once urgent care had checked out my whiplash injury, I sat down for a California burrito and some consolation chips and salsa.
Brix Tavern - Tualatin, Oregon
We visit the venerable but corporate, industrial chic Brix Tavern in Tualatin. I had high hopes that this restaurant would be everything we all want from our bar food: burgers, crispy fries, piles of fried foods.
But unfortunately, it feels like Brix might be in the midst of an identity crisis of some sort.
Republica Restaurant - Portland, Oregon
I wandered on down to Republica in NW Portland on the day before Cinco de Mayo. Thankfully the food didn’t disappoint, though I dropped my phone somewhere on the sidewalk and wasn’t able to get it back until the next morning. That was sort of a bummer. But thankfully, the world is full of good people that turn phones in at the lost and found.
Anyway, here’s Wonderwall…
