Just a Portland dude with a love of food—and forcing others to read about it
I wouldn’t say that I have the most amazing palate on this side of the Mississippi or anything. Do I like food? Yep. It does things to me. It keeps my body energized. It keeps me alive. But sometimes I’ll sit down at a fancy three-star Michelin restaurant or at a dive bar eating greasy burgers and crispy fries—and I’ll think, my god, if I die right now that would be absolutely fine because this meal is amazing.
I’m not saying a meal will always change your life. But I think we should be open to the idea that great ideas and great experiences can come from anywhere. And food, whether we recognize it as such, is one of those places where big ideas sometimes show up.
Oh sure, that all sounds so simplistic when we’re just talking about the best sandwich we ever ate. But I’m serious. One of the few times we get to be truly present, to truly enjoy the life that we’re living, is while sitting at a table of food, surrounded by friends and family, and talking about the life that we’re currently living.
This website definitely critiques and badmouths and otherwise makes funny comparisons about some of the restaurants in Portland, Oregon—but more than that, it tries very hard to find the good, too. Life should be a celebration of both sides of that coin. I hope you enjoy.
